Augmented Reality Experience at The CORE 2019

What: An augmented reality exhibit is soon to open at Calgary’s The CORE Shopping Centre, in partnership with UK-based technology provider INDE. Attendees will stand on a platform in front of a gigantic screen, which will show them standing alongside everything from whales to giraffes to dinosaurs. Three different experiences will be available to try out, — Air, Land, and Sea; Arctic Explorer; and Back to the Jurassic — with each providing a different setting along with different animals to encounter.

What: Head to the summit for an unreal view above the treetops and a birds-eye view of six different mountain ranges, while sipping on coffee or a refreshing glass of wine. Start with a walk along the Sulphur Mountain Boardwalk to learn more about Canada’s first national park, or go indoors to sample from three restaurant menus. Then get hands-on in the world-class interpretive centre and theatre.

Dungeons & Dragons at the Ship

What: Learn all about Dungeons & Dragons on the first Monday of the month at The Ship & Anchor. These nights are specifically designed for anyone who has no experience with the world of ‘tabletop role-playing games’ such as D&D, Pathfinder, or any of the others out there. The evening will begin with a first-come-first-served selection of a character to play, followed by a quick Q&A, then diving right into the adventure.

Dinner & a Movie at Heritage Park – Emma

What: You can’t beat a classic with a classic! This ain’t no typical ‘dinner and a movie,’ as Heritage Park brings it up a notch with their delicious, themed three-course dinner in the Selkirk Grille Restaurant, before presenting a timeless classic film that will truly bring you back to a wonderful time in history.

YYC World Autism Awareness Day

What: Autism Aspergers Friendship Society Of Calgary, Autism Calgary Association , Allies for Autism, and the Calgary Autism Community Network are hosting a fun-filled World Autism Awareness Day celebration at the Eau Claire Market to raise awareness and acceptance, not just for kids but also adults on the Autism Spectrum. Heritage Park Ghost Tours 2019

What: Curious Calgarians will have a chance to learn about the ghostly figures that haunt their city by taking a Heritage Park Ghost Tour this spring. Each tour is 90 minutes long and will take attendees through the alleyways and streets of the Historical Village and verse them in various spooky stories that will make their skin crawl. They depart from Gasoline Alley at 7 and 7:30 pm, though the truly terrified would be wise to choose the earlier, brighter tour.

When: April 3 and April 10 for both the family and adult tours

Doc Soup: The Panama Papers

What: Doc Soup Calgary is a monthly feature-length documentary series presented in partnership with the Calgary International Film Festival and Hot Docs. The Panama Papers is a feature documentary that charts the story of the massive data leak that exposed the largest global corruption scandal in history.

3rd Annual Cowboys Wing Off

What: Presented by Cowboys & Sportsnet 960 The Fan, this event asks attendees to taste over 25 different varieties of wings from local Calgary pubs and restaurants in order to choose the best one. Voting categories include Most Unique, Best Salt & Pepper, Best Hot Wings, and Best Honey Garlic to name a few. The results of the votes will be posted on the Sportsnet website after being tallied. Tickets include bottomless wings, and the best part? Proceeds raised go directly to KidSport Calgary.
