Top Picks

Top picks for getting out May 17 – 23 including Royal Wood, comic Jimmy Carr, Slayer and more

Wow. I hope everyone has been taking their vitamins and getting plenty of sleep in preparation for this weekend, ‘cuz it’s a gooder. How good? Well, let me tell you …

Thursday: Queens of the Stone Age (swoon!) will be performing with Royal Blood at the Saddledome. I’ll be somewhere on the floor in my glory – wave! If QOTSA isn’t your thing, then how about Royal Wood with Fionn at the Bella Concert Hall? Both great choices in my books.

Friday: Comedian Jimmy Carr brings his The Best of Ultimate, Gold, Greatest Hits World Tour to the Jack Singer Concert Hall. I’ll be somewhere on the side in my glory – wave! Also, Otafest 2018 starts today and runs until Sunday — get your fix of anime and vendors and all things fun at the Telus Convention Centre this weekend. The CPO presents Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone In Concert at the Jubilee Friday and Saturday, and Kent Sangster’s Obsessions Octet will perform at Studio Bell. Lots to see!

Saturday: Slayer with Lamb of God, Anthrax, Behemoth & Testament  at the Big Four Building, Stampede Park. On a lighter note, the RBC Master in Residence: Steven Page will be at Studio Bell and Bob Log III with Forbidden Dimension & KV Raucous will be at the Palomino.

Monday: David Byrne! David Byrne’s America Utopia Tour makes its way to the Jubilee tonight. I’ll be somewhere up frontish in my glory – wave!

Tuesday (or Wednesday, you choose): Vertigo Theatre closes their season with Sherlock Holmes and the American Problem. Get tickets quick, because they are going fast! Looks like an amazing show. I’ll be there next Thursday … you know what to do.
