Jane Goodall will deliver the commencement speech at Simon Fraser University on Thursday. The pioneering chimpanzee expert will also receive an honorary degree.
Goodall is a primatologist, environmentalist, animal rights activist and UN Messenger of Peace. She is best-known for her work with chimpanzees in Africa.
More than 2,000 students are eligible to graduate in this week’s convocation ceremonies, which are spread over two days. Alongside Goodall, Alison Gopnik will also be awarded an honorary degree for her internationally recognized work in the study of cognitive science, exploring children’s learning and development.
Goodall will speak on Thursday around 2:30 p.m. at SFU’s Burnaby campus and those at home will be able to watch through SFU’s Facebook live stream.
