Peace Region athletes & coaches chasing Canada West titles this weekend

Some athletes and coaches from the Peace Country will be chasing a Canada West university sports crown this weekend.

The University of Alberta Golden Bears men’s hockey team will take on UBC. The Bears roster includes Carter Wolski from Sexsmith and Wyatt McLeod of Dawson Creek.

Fairview’s Rachel Wiebe is an assistant coach with the U of A.

The University of Alberta is also hosting the women’s volleyball final four. Wanham’s Quinn Pelland and her teammates from Mount Royal University will play the host side in their first game.

The men’s volleyball final four will take place at Trinity Western University in Langley, BC. The University of Calgary will play the U of A in the first game for both.

The Dinos roster includes Tyler Funk and Bradley Noskey, both from Grande Prairie. Another Swan City product, Rod Durrant, is the Dinos head coach.

The Canada West women’s hockey final and men’s and women’s basketball final fours are also on this weekend.

All the series and final fours will start Friday night.
