Bert Church High School Alumnus Haley Roe is taking her talents to Switzerland to play professional volleyball.

She will be leaving for Switzerland very soon to play for Raiffeisen Volley Toggenburg.

From 2018-2023, Row played volleyball at Mount Royal University (MRU) while attending school. Roe has really enjoyed her time playing for the Cougars.

"It was incredible having six years there. I couldn't have asked for a better career. I got an extra year from COVID, so it was a bit longer than I anticipated, but definitely worth it."

In her final year with the Cougars, the team got silver at the Canada West Championships and 5th place at the U SPORTS National Championships.

"It was nice to be back at Nationals. This year was really awesome, I think it was by far my best year, I was definitely having a good time. The group of girls we had this year was incredible. It was just a really fun way to end my career at MRU."

"I'm really excited. There are a couple of other girls from Canada that I know who are going to the same team as me. I'm excited to explore over there and place more volleyball."

Roe was undecided about what she wanted to do after her post-secondary career a few years back but more recently, she knew she wanted to go pro.

"The coach from Switzerland actually reached out to my coach just looking for some international players. Then he ended up reaching out  and then I passed on the information to my agent, they chatted and it just worked out really well."

Roe finished off by saying she is really going to miss her MRU family but is really excited for this next adventure in her life.
