Some students at Mount Royal University (MRU) are on high alert following reports of a naked man roaming the campus and harassing women.

Peter Glenn, a senior media relations officer at MRU, says there has been a total of four reports made to campus security about the man.

“Mount Royal University takes these reports seriously and understands student concerns about safety on campus,” Glenn said in a statement.

Two of those in September were about a person peering into residence windows, as well as reports on Oct. 14 and 21 of a naked man on campus.

Due to the concerns, Glenn says the university is upping security on campus.

“MRU Security has increased patrols in areas around East and West Residence, [and] is providing support and resources to Residence students and staff,” Glenn said.

It goes on to say that MRU is working closely with Calgary police, and the increased patrols include the school’s SAFEWALK Program.

According to its website, the SAFEWALK Program is where security reps escort students who do not wish to walk alone on campus.

MRU says the program is “a proactive approach to keeping the campus a safe place for all students, staff and visitors.”

Calgary police and security with MRU are encouraging anyone with further information to reach out to CPS directly.

Police can be reached at 403-266-1234 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
