Reception centre in Calgary to move location

The City of Calgary will be moving the reception centre supporting Alberta wildfire evacuees to Mount Royal University. With the Calgary Stampede set to host the Calgary Marathon on May 28 the reception centre is being transitioned from the Stampede Grandstand to Mount Royal University’s Main Building, through the West Gate.

The new location will open daily starting on Friday, May 19 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. to provide evacuees and their pets with support services including access to accommodation and mental health supports.

As of noon May 18, 36 evacuees have sought services through the centre.

Information for evacuees is available at alberta.ca/emergency, calgary.ca/wildfires or by phone at 310-4455.

Donations are not being accepted at the reception centre. If you are wanting to give, please reach out to a trusted community organization or visit alberta.ca/emergency.
