After a year of chatter and behind-the-scenes photos – it’s here. This week, HBO finally released the very first look at Alberta-shot series The Last Of Us – and one thing is for sure. If you weren’t already on the edge of your seat waiting for its premiere, you will be after watching the trailer.

Starring Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian) and Bella Ramsey (Game of Thrones) – the upcoming drama will follow Joel a smuggler who is tasked with escorting a young girl across post-apocalyptic America years after a deadly fungus wipes out most of society.

Based on a video game of the same name, The Last Of Us already has an established and loyal fan base – so to call it highly anticipated’ is a bit of an understatement.

Second, only to The Lord Of The The Rings adaption The Rings Of Power, we’d argue that TLOU has been one of the most talked about series since it was announced in March of 2021 and Alberta is at the centre of the action.

Now, tangled in an internet web of hype and theory – we’ve officially got a look beyond the videos and photos taken by fans in the area – and despite being covered in dust, debris and fog, our province looks incredible.

Though the short teaser is made up of second-long clips, several different locations are visible – with Canmore’s Engine Bridge being the standout.

Other destinations that we can expect to see in the show? The Parliament building in Edmonton, The Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, Mount Royal University and Northland Village Mall in Calgary (just to name a few.)

Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait until 2023 to see its release, but it’ll only be a matter of time until we get a full trailer – and according to executive producer and writer, Neil Druckmann – we ‘ain’t see nothing yet!’
