Under The Dome: Can Jason Kenney pivot amidst plummeting polls and an upcoming leadership review?

Article content

We’ve almost reached the midway point of Alberta Premier Jason Kenney and his United Conservative Party’s (UCP) first term in office and there is seemingly growing discontent on both the right and the left.

Last week, new online polling numbers from Leger found 40 per cent support for Rachel Notley’s NDP compared to 20 per cent for the governing UCP, with the opposition party leading in all areas of the province. However, further polling from the Angus Reid Institute suggests a much more narrow lead for the NDP, with the opposition party holding a thin three-point lead over the UCP.
