Several Alberta post-secondary schools have opted to close their campuses for the week.

The province declared a public health emergency along with new sweeping COVID measures on Wednesday, leading the institutions to have to step back and assess them.

Among those schools are Mount Royal University, the University of Calgary, and SAIT.

A number of them have indicated that in-person classes will continue.

Just days prior, nine of the province's post-secondary institutions announced vaccine mandates and that a negative rapid test would not be accepted.

They'll now have to figure out how the province's "restriction exemption program" will affect people on their campuses.
