“Clearly there was an opportunity for us to win there, but we just weren’t clinical where we’ve been clinical during the year, ironically,” Calgary head coach Damian Jennings said. “We knew this was going to be a fast-paced game. These are the two fastest teams arguably in the country, certainly in this tournament.”

Calgary’s three seniors led them in their final game in a Dinos uniform. Bobbi-Jo Colburn finished with a team-high 16 points, Madison Landry was named Calgary’s player of the game and had 15 points, while Mackenzie Trpcic filled the stat sheet with 12 points, seven rebounds, six assists and a season-high five steals.

This marks the third time in five seasons the Dinos season has finished at the U SPORTS National Championship.

“We’ve weathered some interesting storms and I think that’s what a season should be like,” said Jennings. “The sign of a program is how do you go through that and come out the other end, and I think we should be proud of some of the external accolades achieved by this group.”

The Carleton Ravens swept the women’s and men’s national titles. The women defeated the Queen’s Gaels 71-59, while the men downed the host St. Francis Xavier X-Men 109-104 in double overtime in Halifax.
