Why does Jason Kenney love this pickup truck so much?

The Alberta premier has sprung to the defence of trucks, kicking a hornet’s nest in the province and reviving debates about identify, road safety and, as questions about climate-change heat up, what exactly will have to give.

Alberta premier Jason Kenney changed his profile picture on Twitter Monday amid a debate about trucks in the province, stirred up by a media column. This picture was taken at a Canada Day parade.


His left elbow rests jauntily on the sill of the open window, his right hand on the wheel. His gaze is, presumably, fixed on the open road ahead.

Jason Kenney has a new Twitter profile picture — and like most frequently updated social media pictures, the subtext is the real message. In this case, the dark blue pickup truck is back.
