COVID-19 UPDATE

RDC adjusts to new reality

Mar 18, 2020 | 3:27 PM

Red Deer College is working to adjust to its “new normal” now that all in-person classes for the rest of the semester are suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

RDC is working to find online solutions for as many students as possible to continue with their studies. This includes students at the Donald School of Business as well as the college’s education, health sciences and arts and sciences programs.

“This online delivery of courses is anticipated to continue until September 2020, as per RDC’s communications with the Government of Alberta,” the college said in an update posted to its website.

Students currently on practicum placements have been asked to confer with their instructors and practicum placement supervisors to ensure they remain safe.

RDC’s counsellors will be offering virtual or phone-in appointments only starting Wednesday (March 18).

Students currently living in residence are allowed to stay if they choose to do so. Otherwise, should they choose to leave early RDC is waiving any early termination fees and their residence rate prorated based on when they leave.

The Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre remains open, but all sports and recreation facilities inside the centre are closed.

All events scheduled to take place at the RDC campus through April 30 have been cancelled. Public gathering spaces at the college are also closed.
