This past week fifteen-year-old Portland Thorns midfielder Olivia Moultrie scored her first professional goal, Amar Doman became the new owner of the CFL's BC Lions, and Jason Terry was named head coach of the NBA G League's Grand Rapids Gold. Highlights from this week are from the National Women's Soccer League, Major League Soccer, United Soccer League Championship, United Soccer League One, Canadian Football League, NBA G League, Women's National Basketball Association, Big3, Triple-A East League, Pioneer League, Premier Lacrosse League, North American Hockey League, Western Hockey League, Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Major League Rugby and American Ultimate Disc League.

National Women's Soccer League
Fifteen-year-old Olivia Moultrie scored her first professional goal on a free kick, and the Portland Thorns went on to defeat the Houston Dash 3-1 on a penalty shootout after a 2-2 draw in the Women's International Champions Cup.

Portland Thorns FC received a late goal from Morgan Weaver to secure a 1-0 win over Olympique Lyon in the 2021 Women's International Champions Cup final at Providence Park on. Weaver tallied the game-winning goal in the 87th minute to help Portland lift its second trophy in 2021.

The USL Championship announced the Team of the Week Presented by Cleer Audio for Week 17 of the 2021 regular season, with Miami FC midfielder Speedy Williams voted Player of the Week after recording a pair of goals in his side's comeback victory against Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC and helping Miami earn four points over its two games during the week overall.

A British Columbia entrepreneur known for his business acumen and talent for seeing the big picture is the new owner of the British Colombia Lions of the Canadian Football League. Amar Doman, founder and sole shareholder of the Futura Corporation, was introduced. "I'm thrilled and excited by the opportunity before us, to build a winning team on the field, to be a positive force for a better British Columbia off the field, and to provide a great experience for our fans and our partners every step of the journey," Doman told reporters.

Outside the North Entrance at SAP Center at San Jose, the Bay Area Panthers of the Indoor Football League held a press conference to formally announce the team's relocation to SAP center and its new name, the Bay Area Panthers (formerly the Oakland Panthers). Bay Area Panthers Team President, Scott McKibben explained, "Without question this move into our new home at SAP Center provides our budding franchise with the immediate operational support and long-term runway to build our professional football business into a winner, on and off the field.

The Grand Rapids Gold, the Official NBA G League Affiliate of the Denver Nuggets, have announced the hiring of Jason Terry as their new Head Coach. The 19-year NBA veteran brings a wealth of experience and basketball knowledge with him to Grand Rapids, having appeared in 1,410 career games, the ninth most in NBA history. The sharp-shooting NBA Champion owns career averages of 13.4 points, 2.3 rebounds and 3.8 assists while connecting on 2,282 career three-pointers, the seventh most all-time.
Former NBA champion Jason Terry has been named the head coach of the Grand Rapids Gold.

Canadian Elite Basketball League
The Canadian Elite Basketball League unveiled its eighth franchise and first in the Greater Toronto Area, the Scarborough Shooting Stars. The team begins play when the league's 2022 season opens next May. Scarborough franchise owners Nicholas "Niko" Carino, one of the founding members of OVO (October's Very Own), and Sam Ibrahim, one of the founding members, of Playground Global could not be more excited to join the league.

Pioneer League
The Pioneer Baseball League (PBL) Board of Directors approved the application of Ridge Run Baseball, LLC to join the league with a team expected to begin play in 2022 in Flathead County, MT encompassing the communities of the valley. It will become the 10th team in the league, joining the Northern Colorado Owlz who will also begin play in the 2022 season. The yet to be named team will be led by an ownership group of the Kelly Family, owners of a national construction company. The Kelly family have been part-time residents of Flathead County for 20 years.
If you build it, they will come - The Pioneer Baseball League expands into Flathead County.
New England Collegiate Baseball League
The New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) is pleased to announce that Ocean State left fielder Travis Honeyman (Boston College) has been named the 2021 Rick Ligi Most Valuable Player. The Massapequa, New York, native owned a .430 average, breaking the previous New England League batting record by one decimal point, a longtime record previously set in 1997 and held by Jim Deschaine. Honeyman's batting title also made him the league leader in slugging percentage (.763) and on-base percentage (.530) through the 2021 season on top of possessing the fourth-best OPS in the league this summer (1.293) through 30 games played.
