She is Calgary’s reigning jazz diva.
Well, minus the attitude.
In fact as well as owning one of the finest voices in this city, Ellen Doty is probably one of the nicest, loveliest and most generous folks in the local music community.
Take, for example, her recent initiative where she teamed with Monogram Coffee to raise money for the Drop-In and Rehab Centre. They raised a bunch and will present a big cheque to them in the coming weeks.
Then there’s also the fact that Ms. Doty has given us a pair of tickets to give away to her show Saturday, March 3 at Mount Royal University’s Bella Concert Hall, where she’ll release her new album Come Fall. (Pssst: We’ve heard it and it’s wonderful. Stayed tuned for an interview with her about the record.)
